Wilkes started playing women's basketball in the 1960-61 season.
Since that time the Lady Colonels have accumulated an overall record of 361 wins and 540 losses.
The 1992-93 squad earned a berth in the ECAC Championships, where they came away with the school’s first ECAC title. That team finished the year with an overall record of 18 wins and 8 losses.
The Lady Colonels have had their share of individual honors as well. Twenty-two Wilkes players have been named to the various conference all-star teams, including one Most Valuable Player and one Rookie of the Year. In addition, five Lady Colonels have garnered berths on the ECAC all-star unit.
During the 2002-03 season, Lady Colonel standout Whitney Bull made her mark at the national level. She was awarded the Jostens Trophy, presented annually to the top player in Division III. She also earned All-American honors and was named a first team Verizon Academic All-American.
