Graduate Programs Open House - Thursday, June 12th, 2008 from 6 pm to 8:30 pm in Evans Hall.

Allied Health Professions Admission Test (AHPAT)
The AHPAT is often necessary for studying such diverse fields as art therapy, chiropractic, physical therapy, social work and speech pathology, among others. Check with the institutions to which you plan to apply for specific guidelines and requirements.

The Dental Admission Test is required for all candidates applying to dental schools.

Law School Admission Test (LSAT)
The LSAT is required for candidates who wish to apply to American Bar Association (ABA) approved law schools.

  • Miller Analogies Test (MAT)
    The Miller Analogies Test (MAT) is a high-level, analytic ability test that requires the solution of problems stated as analogies. The MAT consists of 120 partial analogies that are to be completed in 60 minutes.

    The MAT is intended to measure your ability to recognize relationships between ideas, your fluency in the English language, and your general knowledge of the humanities, natural sciences, mathematics, and social sciences. There is no foreign-language edition of the MAT. You are not permitted to use a dictionary or any other reference aid when taking the MAT.

    Medical College Admission Test (MCAT)
    The MCAT is required for all candidates who wish to apply to medical school.

    Optometry Admission Test (OAT)
    The OAT is sponsored by the Association of Schools and Colleges of Optometry (ASCO) for applicants seeking admission to an optometry program. All schools and colleges of optometry in the United States, and the University of Waterloo, Canada require the OAT.

    It measures general academic ability and scientific knowledge necessary for the commencement of pharmaceutical education. The PCAT is constructed specifically for colleges of pharmacy.

    The Praxis Series is a standardized exam, given in several different forms, to provide measures of academic achievement for students entering or completing college or provisional teacher preparation programs.

  • Veterinary Admission Tests (VCAT)
    Students interested in attending veterinary school should check with their prospective institutions for test requirements. The VCAT is not always a prerequisite. Some schools prefer the GRE or MCAT.

    Foreign Service Written Exam
    The Foreign Service Written Exam is the first step toward a career in diplomacy. The exam measures a candidate's knowledge and understanding of a range of subjects determined by a job analysis to be important to perform the tasks required of a Foreign Service officer.

    Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
    If English is not your native language, some graduate schools may ask you to submit scores for the TOEFL. It evaluates English proficiency and is often required by colleges and universities in the United States, Canada, and those that instruct in English.

    Download a bulletin, register for a test, or practice your skills on the TOEFL website.

    Paper-based administrations of the TOEFL test will be offered in areas where computer-based testing is not available.
