What assistance is available to faculty grantseekers?
The Director of Grant Support can provide assistance with identifying potential sources of funding, editing proposals, developing a project budget, ensuring compliance with funder’s submission requirements, and generally helping you to put together a competitive proposal. The Internal Proposal Review Sheet must be completed before a grant can be submitted.

How do I start the process of finding a funder for a project or research idea?
Requests for proposals (RFPs) are often distributed online and through professional publications. Most funding agencies and foundations specify submission dates for proposals, and you are encouraged to develop a grantseeking  plan well in advance of your anticipated project start date. The Grant Support Boomarks page(linklocated inthe leftcolumn of Grant Support pages) provides links to potential funders and to sites of interest to grantseekers. The Alerts and Newsletters page is  also a useful resource. Talk to your chair about your ideas for possible grant-supported research or projects and contact the Grant Support Office to discuss possibilities fo rfunding and strategies for proposal development.

Are faculty grantseekers required to work with the Office of Grant Support?

Sincethe majority of grant proposals are submitted by the institution ratherthan the individual, you are asked to keep Grant Support informed ofyour proposal project, even if you have determined you need noassistance in the early stages of your proposal development.

Internalreview of all proposals must precede any submission of a proposal.Depending on the complexity of the proposal and the details of thebudget, it may take anywhere from a few days to a week for internalreview and approval. If you want assistance with your grant proposal, you can request help with research, writing, and editing. Budgets must be reviewed and approved internally before submission.
