provide additional scholarships. In our experience, most students receive these outside scholarships from organizations within their home communities. For this reason, we encourage you to check with your high school, local civic organizations and religious institutions to see what scholarships are available.
You may also want to perform a Scholarship Search using fastWEB, a free scholarship search database. Competition for scholarships identified through fastWEB will be more severe since many of these scholarships are available on a state or national level.

The Sallie Mae Fund is pleased to announce that its scholarship application season is now open and invites students attending college in the fall to apply for scholarships it will award for the 2008-2009 school year. This year, The Sallie Mae Fund will award more than $2 million to college-bound students across the nation. The following news release provides additional details, and applications, eligibility, a two-page flyer, and other information are available online at www.salliemaefund.org.
The MEF Scholarship ranges from $1,000 to $2,500
The Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) is pleased to offer scholarships to your accounting and finance students. An IMA student member pursuing study in accounting or finance as an undergraduate or graduate is eligible for the Memorial Education Fund (MEF) Scholarship and for the Stuart Cameron and Margaret McCloud Memorial (SCMS) Scholarship.
The MEF Scholarship ranges from $1,000 to $2,500. One student will be chosen from the MEF Scholarship pool of applicants to receive the SCMS Scholarship in the amount of $5,000. The SCMS Scholarship recipient will also receive lodging, transportation, and registration costs for both the IMA Annual Conference and Exposition, and the IMA Student Leadership Conference.

The Presidential Forum on Renewable Energy - $10.000 award
The Presidential Forum on Renewable Energy is sponsoring a nationwide college student essay contest in which three college studens will be named and awarded a $10,000 educational prize.
The Forum: The Presidential Forum on Renewable Energy is sponsoring a presidential candidate forum on the afternoon of Saturday, November 17 at the Wadsworth Theater in Los Angeles. The PFRE joined forces with leading environmental organizations to hold a single joint forum on global warming and renewable energy. Our partner organization is hosting the event include the NRDC, the League of Conservation Voters, and the Center for American Progress.
The Contest: The Presidential Forum on Renewable Energy is sponsoring a student essay contest in which three college students will be named and awarded a $10,000 educational prize. The contest, which begins on November 17, will engage college students in the issues of renewable energy, sustainability, and conservation.
Eligibility: The contest is open to students who, as of January 1, 2008, are between the ages of 18 and 24; enrolled, full-time or part-time, in an undergraduate college program; and a citizen of the United States of America.
The Selection Criteria: Submissions, which must be completed by February 1, 2008, will be evaluate on their originality, on their political, economic, and technical feasibility, and on their long-term viability. We will evaluate the plans on the soundness and originality of thinking, but we will also consider the ability to present those ideas in a concise, persuasive, and compelling manner.
Prize: An educational prize of $10,000 will be paid to each of the three students who submit a winning essay. The prizes will be paid to the students, in a lump sum, on or after May 1, 2009. Individual winners will be responsible for all tax liabilities.
Announcement of Winners
The three students whose essays have been selected as winners will be contacted directly by the Presidential Forum on Renewal Energy in April, 2008, to coincide with Earth Day. He official announcement of the winners will be made only after each student’s eligibility has been confirmed.

The World Nomads Podcast Documentary Scholarship
The World Nomads Podcast Documentary Scholarship will send a student on assignment to a remote part of Cambodia to visit a Fred Hollows eye camp with unique access to interview the doctors, staff and local villagers. Under the mentorship of ABC radio journalist Tim Latham, the student will have the opportunity to create their own 15 minute podcast documentary.
World Nomads is passionate about travel and this is the third in our series of educational travel scholarships. To date, we have sent students on a Film Documentary Scholarship to build a primary school in Laipikia region of Kenya and on a Travel Photography Scholarship to Arnhem Land in Australia to attend the indigenous Garma Festival with stunning results.
We are working with key industry partners such as Lonely Planet and National Geographic to make these scholarship opportunities the best in their field. We would appreciate you forwarding this information on to your students (communications/ journalism/media/arts/radio) and lecturers, and also ask that you upload the opportunity onto the relevant section of your website which promotes external opportunities, and of course any other internal marketing platforms you have available.

The American Water Works Association (AWWA)
$2,000 scholarship award
The American Water Works Association (AWWA) is an international nonprofit scientific and educational society dedicated to the improvement of drinking water quality and supply. Founded in 1881, AWWA is the largest organization of water supply professionals in the world. Its more than 60,000 members represent the full spectrum of the drinking water community: treatment plant operators and managers, scientists, environmentalists, consultants, manufacturers, academicians, regulators and others who hold genuine interest in water supply and public health. Membership includes more than 4,000 utilities that supply water to roughly 180 million people in North America.
The Pennsylvania Section of the AWWA encourages study in fields relating to the water supply industry and in May of 2008 is offering $2,000 scholarship to eligible students. Students are eligible to apply if:
1. They have completed one semester of the college junior year or they are a college senior or graduate level student.
2. They are pursuing or planning to pursue a degree in engineering, biology, chemistry, business administration or other field which may lead to a career in the water supply industry, and
3. They are attending a Pennsylvania college or maintain a permanent residence in Pennsylvania.
Please help the Scholarship Committee choose the most worthy students by distributing and posting the enclosed Application Packet and encouraging interested students to apply.

2008 Talbots Women’s Scholarship Fund.
Applicants to the Talbots Women’s Scholarship Fund must be:
- Women currently residing in the United States;
- Women who have earned a high school diploma or their GED on or before September 1998;
- Enrolled or planning to enroll in a full or part-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited 2- or 4- year college, university, or vocational-technical school;
- Attending the full 2008-2009 academic year and receiving a degree no earlier than May 2009; and
- Have at least two semesters (24 credit hours or more) remaining to complete an undergraduate* degree as of the beginning of the 2008 fall academic term.
*Students who have previously obtained a bachelor’s degree are not eligible to apply.
Enclosed are two applications for the 2008 Talbots Women’s Scholarship Fund. You may photocopy the application if additional copies are needed. Applications will be available in all Talbots U.S. stores, as well as on our website at www.talbots.com through January 2, 2008.

The Tri-County Personnel Association
The Tri-County Personnel Association is pleased to announce the continuation of our scholarship program. A scholarship will be awarded to a full time student completing their junior or senior year at a four-year accredited college/university I the Tri-County Personnel area (Columbia, Lackawanna, Luzerne Counties and surrounding areas). The scholarship valued at $1,000.00 will be awarded for the 2008 Spring semester.
The Tri-County Personnel Association is an organization of approximately 116 Human Resource professionals representing close to 75 local companies. It was established to advance the understanding of the principles, policies and methods of creating and maintaining satisfactory human relations with commerce and industry.
The eligibility requirements for these scholarships are as follows. The student must be a full time bachelor’s degree candidate seeking a career in the human resource management field, the student should have completed a minimum of three courses (9 credits) in human resources or industrial relations related courses and maintaining an overall grade point average of 3.0.
Selections will be made by the Scholarship Committee of The Tri-Country Personnel Association. Check will be presented to the scholarship recipient at the February 13, 2008 meeting of the Association.
We would appreciate your assistance in communicating the availability of this scholarship program to your business, human resources or industrial relations faculty and students. In previous years, we have discovered that, in some cases, this information has not been disseminated to students who may be interested and in need of financial assistance. We sincerely hope that eligible students from your institution will apply for consideration this year.
Interested students must complete the enclosed application and return it by November 16, 2007 along with an official transcript, two letters of recommendation from college professors, counselors or administrators and a statement (minimum of 500 words) of their personal and professional goals in the human resource field. - Students must be of Hispanic heritage.
- Students must be a U.S. citizen or Legal Permanent Resident.

The SEMA Memorial Scholarship Fund was founded in 1984 to foster leadership in the specialty equipment marketplace and support educational goals for students pursuing careers in the automotive aftermarket. SEMA Scholarships are awarded annually and have been distributed to hundreds of students in support and encouragement of their educational goals.
SEMA scholarships awarded in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2007 totaled $140,000 each year.
It is our goal to increase the number of scholarships awarded this year to worthy applicants. Eligible students are encouraged to submit their applications to SEMA no later than Friday, April 20, 2008.

ACEC/PA Scholarship
The American Council of Engineering Companies/Pennsylvania is beginning its Annual Scholarship Competition. To be eligible for the ACEC/PA Scholarship, students must be:

A United States citizen.
The scholarship program begins at the state level. The Pennsylvania Scholarship winner will then be eligible to compete for a national scholarship from the American Council of Engineering Companies. The completed application must be sent directly to ACEC/PA. Copies of the application can be downloaded from the ACEC/PA website at www.acepa.org. Applications received after December 3, 2007 WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
You are encouraged to enter ACEC/PA’s Annual Scholarship Award Competition. Every year, ACEC/PA awards the Scholarship winner at least $2,000 for academic and extra-curricular achievements. It could be you!

The Buxmont Chapter of the Pennsylvania Society Of Public Accountants is extremely proud to offer four (4) $2,000.00, scholarships to qualified accounting majors with permanent addresses in Bucks or Montgomery counties. The applicants must be full time students, entering their Junior or Senior year, in the Fall of 2008.
