Most financial aid packages awarded to Wilkes students consist of a combination of scholarships, grants, loans, and employment opportunities. Funding for the various types of aid is provided by the federal government, state government, Wilkes, and other private sources.
Gift Aid does not require that the funds received be repaid.
Grants: Money awards given to financially needy students.
Scholarships: Money given to students who demonstrate potential for distinction, usually in academic performance (may or may not be related to financial need).
Self-Help Aid requires that students repay funds or work on campus to earn funds.
Loans: Money available at relatively low interest rates. In most cases, repayment begins after the student has completed his or her education.
Work-Study & Other Employment: Employment awards that allow students to work on campus and use the earnings to meet a portion of their educational expenses.
