Make history as part of the first-ever Wilkes University Marching Band, which debuts at Schmidt Stadium in fall 2014!
The region’s only collegiate marching band will march in drum corps style, complete with wind and percussion instruments and guard. The Wilkes University Marching Band will become one of the most visible groups on campus, performing at home football games and other on- and off-campus events.
Our director, Dr. Philip Simon, has 30 years of experience directing championship high school marching bands, including the 175-member Thomas Jefferson Marching Colonials in Fairfax County, Va. Dr. Simon's bands earned regional, national and international honors.
Students of all majors are welcome to participate in the Wilkes University Marching Band. No audition is necessary. A one-week band camp will precede the fall 2014 semester.
The newly appointed Drum Majors of the Marching Colonels are, Sofia Soares, Drum Major, sophomore Pharmacy major, and Martina Barna, Assistant Drum Major, sophomore Chemistry major. Sofia and Martina will serve as the on-field leadership and conductors of the Marching Colonels as they take the field for their inaugural season in fall, 2014.
