Dear Students, Faculty, and Colleagues,
I am pleased and excited to share with you that after many months of planning, and the combined efforts of administrative and IT staff, the University’s migration of all Banner services and key enterprise systems to a high availability hosted service will be implemented over the July 4th holiday weekend.
The migration of our key systems to this new environment is a new strategic direction, a necessary direction that was identified in 2011 when threat of flooding caused the city of Wilkes-Barre and our campus to be evacuated. Recognizing the critical need for Banner services, the MyWilkes portal, and the Wilkes website to remain available at all times, we sought a solution that could deliver that level of robust reliability. Transitioning our systems from an on-campus data center to a high availability hosted environment will provide reliable, uninterrupted access to systems and data from anywhere with an Internet connection. A transition of this magnitude is a complex, lengthy process. All Banner and MyWilkes Portal services and related data will be unavailable Wednesday, July 3rd, 4:00pm through Monday, July 8th, 7:00am. E-mail and LIVE (D2L) are unaffected and will be available during the holiday weekend.
