Wilkes University is an independent institution of higher education dedicated to academic and intellectual excellence through mentoring in the liberal arts, sciences and professional programs. Founded in 1933, the University provides its students with the experience, mentoring and education necessary for career and intellectual development as well as personal growth.

Wilkes University’s main campus is situated in the heart of Wilkes-Barre, Pa, a city of 41,000 that’s about 2.5 hours from Manhattan and Philadelphia. In addition, Wilkes has locations in the Pocono Region of Pennsylvania and in Mesa, Ariz.
 
Wilkes has an undergraduate enrollment of 2,200 and a graduate enrollment of 2,700. Wilkes offers 37 undergraduate majors and minors, 10 graduate programs and 4 doctoral and terminal degrees.

Mesa Leadership
Dr. Bonnie Culver is the On-site Executive Director in Mesa. Culver has assumed various roles in her 20-year tenure at Wilkes: faculty member, college dean and program director. She co-founded Wilkes University’s Creative Writing program, named the nation’s largest low-residency program by Poets & Writers magazine. She is a playwright, screenwriter and hopeful novelist. More than 20 of her plays have been produced.
