Registered Tax Return Preparers (RTRPs) and Enrolled Agents (EAs)

Wilkes University is an IRS approved Continuing Education (CE) provider for Registered Tax Return Preparers (RTRPs) and Enrolled Agents (EAs). 

According to www.irs.gov, the following continuing education requirements are needed:

  • Enrolled Agents
    • 72 hours every three years 
      • Obtain a minimum of 16 hours per year (2 of which must be on ethics)
  • Registered Tax Return Preparers

Continuing education is not currently mandatory for tax return preparers who have a registered tax return preparer certificate or who were planning to obtain the registered tax return preparer designation.  Participating in a continuing education program is voluntary.

Self Study

The following self study programs are accredited for Enrolled Agents and Tax Preparers:

 To register for the class, you may go to our registration system by following the links through www.wilkes.edu/continuedlearning  There is now an “Accounting CPE Home Study” category where the class is located.  Once you register, you will receive a confirmation email with login instructions.

To receive full credit for the class, you must view each video segment and answer the polling questions.  You do not have to answer the polling questions correctly.  However, you must receive a 70% or better on the final exam to receive credit.  If you score below a 70%, you may take the exam again after an hour.  You can take the exam as often as you need to until you pass, waiting an hour in-between each attempt.  Once you pass the final, you may complete the course evaluation and print your certificate.

In Person
Seminars are held at The Woodlands Inn & Resort, Highway 315, Wilkes-Barre.  Registrations may be made by telephone, mail or fax. Payment by check or credit card (Visa or MasterCard) will be accepted.

Participate from anywhere with our online webinars.  Classes are broadcast live from the Wilkes University campus or from The Woodlands Inn & Resort.  To test you system requirements for the webinars, please go to systemcheck.digitalsamba.com/ .  You only have to pass the tests for the United States. A dial-up connection is not recommended.
