We have recently formed a Preceptor Advisory Board with broad representation of preceptors. In the coming year several more members will be added, as well. The board will meet 3-4 times a year and has already had its first meeting. Guidance on key experiential issues, input on APPE and IPPE projects, and providing for an additional point of contact for other preceptors are among the major functions of the Board.

Preceptor Mission Statement

The mission of Wilkes University’s Department of Pharmacy Practice is to advance pharmacy practice by creating meaningful learning experiences, improving patient care, and contributing to professional scholarship. A very close relationship between the School of Pharmacy and its experiential preceptors is critical, therefore, to the advancement of this mission.

The Preceptor Advisory Board serves to enhance the link between the School and preceptors and to help to improve experiences for students and preceptors. Meeting at least three times a year and communicating in between meetings, its major functions are:
     1. Providing guidance on key experiential issues
     2. Providing input on specific APPE and IPPE projects and requirements
     3. Serving as liaisons between preceptors and the School for preceptors reaching out at this level
     4. Bringing issues forward from the preceptor/site standpoint that the experiential office may need to be aware of
     5. Recommending enhancements to the experiential program within the confines of the curriculum, resources and     
         accreditation standards
