Vernon B. Harper, Jr., Ph.D. is the Associate Provost for Wilkes University. His responsibilities include coordinating academic assessment and institutional effectiveness. He leads the University’s assessment committee and oversees the campus-wide program review process. Prior to joining Wilkes, Dr. Harper was Associate for Academic Affairs at the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV). The Council is the coordinating agency for 16 public higher education institutions and 23 community colleges in Virginia. Earlier in his career, he was Associate Professor of Communications at Christopher Newport University and an Assistant Professor at California State University, San Bernardino.
Dr. Harper holds a doctorate in Human Communication from Howard University, a Master degree in Communication from West Chester University, and a Bachelor degree in Communication from Penn State University. Drs. Vernon and Erika Harper have been married to for ten years, and together they have a four-year old son named Justice and a two-year old daughter named Alexandra.
