Office of Diversity Initiatives; Max Roth Center; 570-408-7856 Email
The Office of Diversity Initiatives (ODI) serves students, faculty, and staff from underrepresented groups to develop a nurturing and empowering support system at Wilkes University. This includes persons from Black/African American, Latino/Hispanic, Asian/Pacific Islander, American Indian/Alaskan Native, first generation, disabled, women and LGBTQ groups.
The primary goal of the office is to foster appreciation for difference within the classroom and the community in three focus areas:
Diversity Student Services
The ODI provides support and services for undergraduate and graduate students to include advising on career and life issues, monitoring academic progress as well as advocating for their interests.
The ODI provides programming to the campus and community to increase awareness and understanding of diversity that build skills for effectiveness in a diverse world, celebrate differences, and foster learning across social and group boundaries to build an inclusive community.
Through diversity education, the office leads efforts across the University to enhance diversity and enrich the academic, social, and cultural experiences of members of the campus community.
We invite faculty, staff, administrators, students, and student organizations to participate in our decisions about what programs to provide. If there is a program or speaker that you would like to see at Wilkes, or one that would enrich curriculum, please let us know so that we may help facilitate the event. If you have questions, please contact us at 570-408-7856 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
