Mr. Choper was admitted to the Bar in the District of Columbia in 1960, and served as law clerk to Chief Justice Earl Warren. He has taught at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, at the University of Minnesota Law School, and has served on the faculty at Boalt Hall since 1965, and as the school’s dean from 1982-1992. He has also been a visiting professor at Harvard Law School and the Bacon-Kilkenny Distinguished visiting professor at Fordham Law School. His major publications include the books, Judicial Review and the National Political Process: A Functional Reconsideration of the Role of the Supreme Court, which received the Order of the Coif Triennial Book Award in 1982, and Securing Religious Liberty: Principles for Judicial Interpretation of the Religion Clauses. He is a graduate of Wilkes University and the University of Pennsylvania School of Law. In 1967, he was awarded an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from Wilkes University.
