Rifkin Hall is known for its spacious apartments.
The mansion has a rich history, which includes being owned by Colonel Robert Bruce Ricketts for whom Ricketts Glen State Park is named.
The Rifkin apartments are primarily efficiency style with one or two rooms, small kitchen areas, and full bathrooms. Some apartments are even large enough to have more than one bedroom in addition to their living room areas.

If you were at Wilkes before 1989... you could only dream about what the inside of this enormous Gothic mansion might be like.
However, in July of 1989, the building was acquired from Arnold and Sandy Rifkin, who had longtime ties to the University, and became part of the Wilkes campus. When they moved to Wilkes-Barre in 1948, the Rifkins made their first apartment on the third floor of what is now one of our most beautiful historic dorms.
The structure was built in 1875, as a home for the Ricketts family, one of Wilkes-Barre's coal-baron families. The architect of the massive stone structure is unknown. Later owners of the building included Judge William McLean and Moses Griffith, who converted the home into apartments.
Despite changed ownership and purpose, none of the exterior has been altered. Even the wrought iron and brick arches over the windows are original.
