Meet the Dean - Loren D. Prescott Jr.
       

Loren D. Prescott Jr. served for 18 years as a member of the full-time faculty at Widener University School of Law in

Harrisburg, Pa. His service at Widener included two years as dean of students and eight years as vice dean (the chief resident academic and administrative officer of Widener’s Harrisburg campus). At Widener, he taught classes in federal income taxation and business organizations and a seminar on tax-exempt organizations. His legal research at Widener focused on taxation exemption for charitable organizations.

 
Prescott worked as a certified public accountant in Seattle, Wash., before attending law school. Following admission to the Oregon and Washington bars, he practiced law in Portland, Ore., and Seattle before beginning his career in legal education in 1989.
 
He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Washington, his juris doctor degree from Willamette University College of Law in Salem, Ore., and a master of laws in taxation from the University of Florida College of Law. He is currently a doctoral candidate in public administration at Penn State.
 
Prescott served as president of the Dauphin County Mental Health and Mental Retardation Advisory Board and as vice president of the board of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Harrisburg.
 
His wife of 27 years, Nancy Ann Prescott, is a criminal defense lawyer in the Dauphin County Public Defender’s Office in Harrisburg. They have two grown children.
