Personal and Professional Development 201 is the third course in a required 7-sequence of Personal and Professional Development opportunities in the Jay S. Development for the Future
During this semester students will attend a Resume and Networking seminar designed to improve resume and networking skills students need, preparing them for their futures. Students will also prepare a Preliminary Career Interest and Action Plan. This will help the student explore his/her goals and actions needed to complete those goals. PPD 202 will further expand this action into a personal marketing plan. Students will explore the requisite development they need to achieve their goals in terms of undergraduate education, graduate education, certification, mentoring/coaching, network development, volunteer/extracurricular experiences, internships, and interviewing.
Social Cyclical Awareness
This semester students will develop a plan to give back to the community through focusing on career/education and development. Student cohort’s teams will also work on a Social Cyclical Awareness Proposal. For this proposal, teams will identify a client and then work with the client’s organization to identify an opportunity for service. This project will carry through into PPD 202.
Students will complete Focus exercises. These web-based personality exercises will give students an opportunity to assess their strengths, interests, and values in terms of potential career areas. These exercise will give students profiles in various areas: work related interests and values profile, educational profile, personality type and life values profile, the leisure preference profile, skills assessment, self-development needs, socio-emotional matches based on occupations.
Cohort teams will also continue, from PPD 101 and 102, to create role plays based on assigned self competencies.
