you might have been curious about -- or perhaps attended classes in -- the "mini castle" behind Weckesser Hall. A stone driveway that runs under an elaborate "carport" along the north side of the main house leads to the Annex, which originally served as a garage and servant quarters for the Weckesser family. Built of the same blue limestone as the main house, the Annex has a somewhat unique feature -- a turntable set into its concrete floor. This amenity was a favorite of Mrs. Weckesser because it turned her car so she never had to back out of the garage! |
