Introduction to Guitar
Ages: 10-15
Schedule: February 19th-April 8th, Tuesday 6:30 to 7:30 pm

Learn the basics of guitar in a low-stress class setting. Introduction to Guitar will group students of similar ages and musical backgrounds into a single class where they can learn the fundamentals of the guitar and have fun at the same time. Students will learn guitar technique, music reading, and basic chords, as well as songs chosen by the students with the guidance of the instructor. The purpose of this class is for inquiring students to gain an overview in a group setting that may help them decide whether a dedicated commitment to private instruction should be pursued.

Approach to Theatre
Ages: 11-14
Schedule: March 5th- April 16st, Wednesday 5:30 to 6:30 pm
Ages: 15-18
Schedule: March 5th- April 16th, Wednesday 6:30 to 7:30 pm

Beginning students will be introduced to both musical and non-musical theatre through exercises, games, and demonstrations. This 8-week session is an overview for those students who think they may have interest in performing and would like to learn more about the process, and/or would like to fulfill the prerequisite for Acting for Young Performers or Musical Theatre in future semesters. The goal is for students to have fun with beginning principles of acting, and to develop confidence and creativity in a classroom setting.
Acting for Young Performers*†
Ages: 13-18
Schedule: February 10th- May 24th, Sunday 3:30 to 4:55 pm
Tuition: $325

This course is designed for the intermediate to advanced student of drama. Students will learn skills needed to build a character and work as an ensemble to perform a full-length play. Theatre games and creativity exercises make this course exciting and fun! A performance will be the finale of this full semester course. Previous shows have included Feiffer’s People, Befriending Bertha, a show created by our students after 9/11 entitled My Generation, AR Gurney’s The Dining Room and HG Wells’ The Time Machine, among others.
Musical Theatre*†
Ages: 13-18
Schedule: February 10th- May 25th, Sunday 5:00 to 6:55 pm
Tuition: $345

This course is for mature students with vocal and dramatic interests. A full length musical or musical review production will be performed following a rigorous full semester of acting and singing exercises, theatre games, and rehearsals. Past productions have included Honk!,Cinderella, The Apple Tree, Narnia, and Bugsy Malone; Snow White, Seussical The Musical, and several musical revues….
* PLEASE NOTE: Additional evening rehearsals the week prior to the performance are mandatory. PLEASE DO NOT REGISTER FOR THESE COURSES IF YOU WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE THE WEEK PRIOR TO THE PERFORMANCE. ENROLLING IN THESE CLASSES REQUIRE A COMMITMENT TO THE ENTIRE GROUP OF PERFORMERS WHO WORK AS A TEAM THROUGHOUT THE SEMESTER TO BRING TOGETHER THESE PRODUCTIONS. Culminating productions may not be on the Darte main stage due to planned renovations.
† New theatre students must take Approach to Theatre as a prerequisite to Acting for Young Performers or Musical Theatre.
