Marlon James -- Novelist. Marlon James, a native of Jamaica, graduated from the Wilkes Graduate Creative Writing Program in 2006.  His debut novel, JOHN CROW’S DEVIL, was a finalist for the Los Angeles Times Book Prize, the Commonwealth Writers Prize and was a New York Times Editors’ Choice.  James’ second novel, THE BOOK OF NIGHT WOMEN, was published in 2009 and was completed as part of his requirement to graduate from the M.A. program. It was a National Book Critics Circle Award Finalist in the fiction category in 2010. Currently, he teaches at MacAlester College.
