Lenore Hart – Novelist, Poet, Essayist. Lenore Hart writes novels, short stories, poetry, creative nonfiction, and lyrics. Her most recent novel BECKY: THE LIFE AND LOVES OF BECKY THATCHER (St. Martin’s Press, 2008) was a Book of the Month Club selection. Her other novels in the U.S. include WATERWOMAN (PenguinPutnam), a recipient of the Barnes & Noble Discover Award; ORDINARY SPRINGS (Penguin Group); BLACK RIVER (Putnam), and in Norway, SVART FRIKT (Dark Woods). Her books for children are T. REX AT SWAN LAKE (Dutton), and THE TREASURE OF SAVAGE ISLAND (Dutton). Her next novel, NEVERMORE, based on the marriage of Edgar Allan Poe and Virginia Clemm, will be published by St. Martin's Press in 2010. Her short stories, memoirs, essays, articles, and poetry have been published and have won awards in the U.S., Canada, and Norway. Hart has been a writer-in-residence or visiting writer at Florida State University, Flagler College, The New College of Florida, and Old Dominion University, and has received grants and awards from the National Endowment for the Arts, The Virginia Commission for the Arts, The Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, The Florida Fine Arts Council, and Old Dominion University.
