Scholars in Service to PA (SISPA)

The community service office announces open applications for Scholars in Service to PA. There are only 10 competitive spots open in this part-time program of AmeriCorps. SISPA students spend 8-10 hours each week assisting organizations such as: the American Red Cross, YMCA, Diversity Programs, FIT Financial Education, Habitat for Humanity, Victims’ Resource Center, and SPCA.  In addition to their active service, the Scholars participate in workshops and educational sessions to raise awareness on social justice issues and enhance leadership skills.  After completing 450 hours of service in one year (October 2007-October 2008), these members will earn $1,250 toward their educational expenses.  Work-study students are highly encouraged to apply.

Interested students may receive more information in the Community Service Office.  Applications for Fall enrollment are due by September 20.
