Erin Sutzko, Director
As Director of The Sovereign Center for Leadership & Management Development, Erin is responsible for providing vision and leadership to the Sovereign Center. Erin strives to be a strategic partner to businesses by leveraging University educators and community experts to deliver unique learning programs and consulting services that are current, innovative, and results- driven, and effectively respond to the leadership and development needs of her clients.
Sutzko was formerly the Director of Training and Development for the NEPA Manufacturer’s and Employer’s Association (MAEA), where she designed, delivered and organized all training-based educational needs to approximately 250 member companies. Continually researching and assessing individual and company educational needs, she was responsible for the overall promotion of the Association’s educational services. Erin continues to instruct programs relative to organizational effectiveness, professional/management development and leadership.
Sutzko has also held various positions at College Misericordia’s Insalaco Center for Career Development, where she served as Assistant Director and Professional Development Consultant to the Dallas Area School District. As the Assistant Director, Sutzko was responsible for assisting in the development and promotion of a four-year internal professional development program, ongoing corporate development initiatives, and event planning. Prior to that, she worked as a performance management division associate for Ernst & Young in New York City.
Sutzko is a professional member of the Society of Human Resources Management, The National Association of Colleges and Employers, American Society for Training and Development, International Leadership Association, among others. She currently sits on the Board of the Great Valley Technology Alliance (GVTA), Ecoprise, and POWER! She received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from the State University of New York at Albany and her Master’s degree in Organizational Psychology/Development from Columbia University. Sutzko resides in Dallas.
Joanne A. Thomas, Coordinator of Business Development
In her role as Coordinator of Business Development, Joanne A. Thomas works to support the Director of the Sovereign Center in her vision through a focus on business analysis and strategy, customer relationship management, and marketing of programs and services to client organizations.
Joanne comes to the Sovereign Center from a background in marketing and sales, having worked as a public relations representative, marketing associate, advertising copywriter, editor, and an account representative in both the radio and foodservice industries.
Joanne attended Carnegie Mellon University and graduated summa cum laude from the University of Scranton, with a Bachelor of Science degree, concentrations in English, communication, and psychology. She is currently pursuing an MA in Creative Writing at Wilkes. Joanne is a singer, songwriter, musician, and a certified yoga instructor, schooled in the Integral tradition.
