Instructional Technology, consists of courses from the three areas listed below. Each is a three-credit course.

AREA I, Foundations of Education,
Two required courses | 6 credits
Required:
ED 519 Issues, Law, and Trends in Education

And one of the following:
ED 510 Psychological Foundations
ED 511 Philosophical Foundations
ED 512 Social Foundations
ED 513 Comparative Foundations
ED 515 Cognition

AREA II, Professional Skills in Education, 
Two required courses | 6 credits
ED 520 Using Assessment to Guide Instruction
ED 585 Integrating Technology into the Curriculum

AREA VI, Educational Computing Courses*
18 credits required for degree or certification

A 'Certification Only' Option is available for the Instructional Technology program... 
and requires a Wilkes graduate application, application fee, official transcripts & letters of recommendation.

Candidates must have a previous Masters degree (either from Wilkes or another university) for admission as a 'Certification Only' student. If the candidate's previous Masters degree is from Wilkes, they need not repay the application fee, but must submit a new, updated application. A minimum of 21 Wilkes graduate credits are required for certification only, with final determination of the courses needed decided upon transcript review.

Candidates for the Instructional Technology Specialist Certificate who do not hold a valid level 1 or level 2 Pennsylvania Instructional Certificate must achieve a Pennsylvania qualifying score in the three pre-professional Praxis 1 tests (reading, writing and mathematics).
