Matt Smallcomb is an accomplished New York City drum set player and percussionist in high demand as a player, educator and studio musician. Currently, a member of The Collective, Matt has had the unique opportunity to open for such acts as: Afro Man, All 4 One, Arrested Development, Bone Thugs & Harmony, Busta Rhymes, Ja-Rule, Jurassic 5, Naughty by Nature, O-Town., The Roots, The Wailers and has appeared on television broadcasts for CN8 Philadelphia, Wilkes University and WVIA’s Homegrown Music Series.
As a percussionist Matt freelances with various regional orchestras in the New York City area including The One World Symphony, Westfield Symphony, New Amsterdam Symphony, Garden State Philharmonic and The New England Symphonic Ensemble, performing at such venues as Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and Philadelphia’s Verizon Hall. He has recently worked with conductors Johanne Faletta, Paul Nadler, David Hayes, Constantine Kitsopolous, and Bright Shang.
Matt has studied percussion with teachers Bob Nowak, Marko Marcinko, Barry Centanni, Michael Werner, and James Preiss.
Mr. Smallcomb holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from Wilkes University and a Master’s Degree in Music Performance from The Mannes College of Music in New York City
