Rebecca Simon is an active soloist, orchestral musician, chamber musician and teacher.  She has performed throughout the Baltimore/Washington, Philadelphia and Northeastern Pennsylvania areas. She is the Adjunct Professor of Flute at Wilkes University in Wilkes-Barre, PA, as well as Bryn Mawr and Haverford Colleges in Haverford, PA. She is also on the faculties of Suburban Music School and Germantown Academy. Rebecca plays with the Orchestra Society of Philadelphia and is a substitute with the world-renowned New World Symphony. She has also played with the Lancaster Symphony, Philadelphia Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra, Pottstown Symphony, and the National Orchestral Institute. Rebecca was a finalist in the 2003 Flute Society of Washington Guest Artist Masterclass Competition. This past spring, Rebecca was selected as one of eight performers from a pool of over 80 applicants to perform on the Montpelier Cultural Arts Center's 2004-2005 Concert Series. She is a member of the unique chamber group, Musical Tempest (2 flutes and guitar), who gave their Kimmel Center debut in 2003. Rebecca is a board member of the Flute Society of Greater Philadelphia. She has also been a member of both the National Flute Association and Flute Society of Washington for over 10 years.
 
Rebecca completed her Masters Degree in Flute Performance at the Peabody Conservatory in May of 1999. There she performed regularly as principal flutist of the Peabody Concert Orchestra, the Peabody Wind Ensemble and the Mount Vernon Winds Woodwind Quintet. While at Peabody, she studied with Mark Sparks (principal, St. Louis Symphony), and had chamber coachings with the late Philadelphia Orchestra and Philadelphia Wind Quintet clarinetist, Anthony Gigliotti. After graduation, she studied flute and piccolo with Baltimore Symphony piccoloist, Laurie Sokoloff and Philadelphia Orchestra piccoloist, Kazuo Tokito. She also had coachings with Baltimore Symphony and Baltimore Wind Quintet Members, Steven Barta and Philip Kolker. Other chamber coaches included Linda Harwell, of the National Symphony, and guitar duo recording artist, Julian Gray. Ms. Simon has performed in masterclasses for Julius Baker, Peter Lloyd, Ransom Wilson, Wissam Boustany and Robert Dick.
 
Rebecca graduated cum laude from the University of Maryland, College Park in 1997. There she received Bachelors of Arts degrees in both Music Performance and Psychology and studied flute with Dr. William Montgomery. In 1996, she won the Maryland State MTNA Collegiate Artist Competition and was chosen as first runner-up at the regional level. That same year, she also won the Flute Society of Washington's Collegiate Soloist Competition and soloed with the University of Maryland Symphonic Wind Ensemble.
