Wilkes University Allen Hamilton Dickson Fund Spring Writers Series To Host Author Josh Weil

The Allen Hamilton Dickson Fund Spring Writers Series at Wilkes University will host author Josh Weil on Thursday, April 24 at 7 p.m. in the Kirby Hall Salon. Weil will read selections from his fiction and creative nonfiction works.
Weil’s first book The New Valley, a compilation of novellas written in the Appalachian Mountains of rural Virginia, was a New York Times Editors’ Choice book and won the Sue Kaufman Prize for First Fiction from The American Academy of Arts and Letters, the New Writers Award from the Great Lakes Colleges Association and a “5 Under 35” Award from the National Book Foundation. It was also shortlisted for the Library of Virginia’s literary award in fiction.
Additional works of fiction have appeared in Granta, One Story and Agni. Weil has also written nonfiction pieces for The New York Times, Oxford American and Poets & Writers.
A recipient of numerous fellowships and awards, Weil has taught at Bowling Green State University as a Distinguished Visiting Writer and at the University of Mississippi as a Grisham Writer-in-Residence.
