Wilkes University Offers Full Scholarship to High School Math Contest Competitors

Wilkes-Barre, Pa. – Area high school juniors and seniors can compete to win a four-year scholarship to Wilkes University by participating in the Luzerne County Council of Teachers of Mathematics 66th Annual High School Mathematics Contest. The contest will be administered on Monday, March 3, at 9 a.m. in the Rite Aid Auditorium in the Stark Learning Center on the University’s campus. Students attending any high school in Luzerne County and Tunkhannock Area High School are eligible to compete.
The tests are composed by Steven Gapinski, math education specialist, Fanhui Kong, associate professor, and Ronald Pryor, visiting assistant professor, from the Wilkes University Department of Mathematics and Computer Science and are administered by participating mathematics teachers. Prizes will be awarded to top finishers, with the first-place winner in both the junior and senior division receiving a four year full-tuition scholarship to Wilkes University to pursue a major of his or her choosing. Students interested in participating must contact a mathematics teacher at their school.
