The Wilkes University Family Business Alliance has joined The Network of Family Businesses, an exclusive online network that connects families who want to stay informed of trends while building their family business legacies. The online organization, www.netfamilybusiness.com, was developed to provide an online meeting place where business owners can attend seminars without having to leave their offices.
Other members of The Network of Family Businesses include The Initiative for Family Business & Entrepreneurship of St. Joseph’s University, the S. Dale High Center for Family Business at Elizabethtown College and The New York Family Business Center.
The Wilkes University Family Business Alliance was developed by regional business owners and is a member-driven organization that aims to enable local family businesses to maintain and grow a profitable business and successfully transfer management and ownership to the next generation. The alliance provides its members with executive educational programs, enhanced networking opportunities with fellow family business owners, a forum to discuss common issues and concerns, and exposure to nationally recognized experts to ensure that the businesses’ needs are constantly identified and addressed.
During the academic semester, the alliance hosts free lectures featuring guest speakers who are experts in their respective fields. Past speakers have included Chris Martin of C.F. Martin Guitar Co., Jay Bush of Bush Brothers & Co., and Matthew Sowcik, assistant professor of leadership studies and director of leadership education in Wilkes University’s Jay S. Sidhu School of Business and Leadership.
