WILKES-BARRE, PA. (Feb. 26, 2013) – The 65th Annual Luzerne County Council of Teachers of Mathematics (LCCTM) Contest hosted by Wilkes University will award two full tuition scholarships to the winners of the two divisions. The contest will take place April 6, 2013 in the Rite Aid Auditorium in Stark Learning Center at 9 a.m.
High school juniors and seniors from Luzerne County high schools and Tunkhannock High School are eligible to compete. The junior and senior division each have a maximum limit of 10 students per division per school. This year the entrance fee is $5 per student.
In addition to Wilkes scholarships, LCCTM will award cash prizes of $100, $75, and $50 within each division. A special team award will be presented to the school with the highest team score in each division. The team score is calculated by adding the top three individual scores from each individual school.
The questions on the test, formulated by Wilkes University faculty in the Math and Computer Science Department, are to be completed without calculators. Nominations end March 15, 2013, and payment is due the day of the contest. Students should contact their high school mathematics teacher to register.
