Teams of students from four high schools will compete in the Wilkes University Entrepreneurial Experience on Wednesday, Jan. 23. Patterned after ABC’s hit show Shark Tank, the competition focuses on students from each team presenting business plans to a panel of judges. Each judge has up to $100,000 each to invest. Judges may choose to “invest” in whichever teams they see fit, and the team with the most investments wins. Participating high schools include Pittston Area High School, Wyoming Valley West High School, Tunkhannock Area High School and North Pocono High School. The business plan presentations will be held at Wilkes University in the Henry Student Center ballroom, beginning at 12:15 p.m. The awards will be presented at 1:15 p.m.
The prize for the winning team is $40,000 in scholarships to Wilkes. Each student on the winning team will be awarded scholarships of $1,000 per year, for four years at Wilkes University. Wilkes students from Enactus (formerly SIFE – Students in Free Enterprise) have visited each of the high schools to help the students prepare for the competition.
