Victims Resource Center Offering Volunteer Orientation

Victims Resource Center (VRC) will host a volunteer orientation for individuals interested in helping victims of crime or violence.  The meeting will be held at VRC at 71 North Franklin Street in Wilkes-Barre on Thursday, January 24, 2013 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. This orientation is a prerequisite for all volunteer positions and training at VRC.

The philosophy and purpose of VRC will be discussed and the role of the volunteer will be explained at this meeting.  Volunteers must have a commitment to issues and values of the mission of VRC, a willingness to attend training and agree to serve for at least one year as a volunteer.  The orientation is free and open to the public, but registration is required.

Victims Resource Center provides services including support groups, counseling, advocacy and a 24-hour hotline for victims of crimes.  It is a non-profit agency and a member of the Wyoming Valley United Way, the United Way of Greater Hazleton and the Wyoming County United Way.  To register for the volunteer orientation program call 1-866-206-9050 or email klindsay@vrcnepa.org.
