Wilkes University Hosts Public Forum on Nuclear Energy Nov. 13 Featuring Robert Powelson of PUC

WILKES-BARRE, PA. (November 10, 2009)- Issues facing the nuclear power industry in Pennsylvania will be explored when Wilkes University hosts a Public Forum on Nuclear Power. The event will be held from 10 a.m to noon on Friday, November 13 in Room 214 of the Arnaud C. Marts Sports and Conference Center, Franklin Street, on the University campus. Admission is free and the event is open to the public.

 The keynote address, “Nuclear Power in the Age of Obama,” will be delivered by Robert F. Powelson, commissioner, Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission. Other featured presentations will include:
 
  • Jeff Hesel, plant manager, and Ron Romsky, emergency planner, for PPL’s Susquehanna facility will speak about “Production, Use, Storage, and Movement of Spent Radioactive Fuel.”
  • Bernard Graham, dean, Nesbitt College of Pharmacy and Nursing, Wilkes University, who formerly worked in the nuclear power industry, will present his perspectives.
A question-and-answer session will be held following the presentation.
 
The event is presented by the Pennsylvania State Legislative Board of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen in cooperation with Wilkes University.
