Working adults in the Poconos can earn a bachelor of business administration degree from Wilkes University and stay close to home by taking classes offered at Pocono Mountain East High School. A cohort is forming now to start classes on January 21, 2010 for the Wilkes Accelerated Bachelor of Business Administration program offered by the Jay S. Sidhu School of Business and Leadership.
Interested adults can learn more about the program by attending one of a series of weekly open houses held on Thursday evenings starting Oct. 22 and continuing through Nov. 19. Open houses also will be held on Dec. 3, 10 and 17. The open houses, which will be from 6 to 8 p.m., will be held at Pocono Mountain East. The room location for the weekly meetings will be posted on the front door of the high school.
The Accelerated Bachelor of Business Administration program has been formulated for working adults, tapping their practical career experience, teaching real-world business skills that can be immediately applied and expanding their career opportunities. It is a degree completion program designed to allow participants a chance to apply credits they have earned elsewhere.
Students take one class during each seven-week cycle. Students finish each class before they start the next, and every class for the cohort will meet one night per week – on the same night of the week – for the duration of the program to help adults schedule around their busy lives. Small class sizes and intensive online interaction with instructors and fellow students offer a supportive environment. The program is designed to be completed in two and one-third years.
To be eligible for the accelerated Bachelor of Business Administration degree, applicants must be at least 25 years old, have a high school diploma or GED certificate and have completed a minimum of 30 hours of undergraduate coursework at an accredited institution of higher education.
