Members of Wilkes University’s incoming freshman class will pitch in help the Wilkes-Barre community as part of their summer orientation on Sunday, June 28. Students will volunteer at local senior centers, children services, the Wilkes-Barre YMCA, the REACH Clothing Closet, and many other organizations.
Interested media can come for interviews at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday in Wilkes University’s University Center on Main, and St. Stephens Episcopal Church.
There are two opportunities for coverage:
What: Students working with Big Brothers, Big Sisters youth on ropes course/gym activities

Over 230 incoming freshman at Wilkes University will participate in the activities while at Wilkes on Saturday and Sunday. The students will work with their E-mentors as a way for them to gain an investment in the community. E-mentors are student leaders on campus, who have excelled in a collegiate lifestyle both academically and through extracurricular activities. E-mentors are assigned to incoming freshman based on the individual’s major.
