Wilkes Wrestlers Post 3-1 Record At North-South Duals To Improve To 8-1

11th-ranked Colonels rally after losing to second-ranked Wartburg
The 11th-ranked Wilkes University wrestling team won three of their four matches at the North-South Duals hosted by Ursinus College on Saturday. The Colonels are now 8-1 overall this season.
           
Wilkes suffered their first loss of the season in their opening match of the day, falling to second-ranked Wartburg College (IA), 43-6. Donny Clark picked up a win by decision at 141 pounds and Justin Barowski won by decision at 165 pounds to account for the Colonels points. 
           
The squad then rebounded to post a 31-9 win over Plymouth State University. Shaun Farnham scored a win by ball for Wilkes at 125 pounds. Josh Ballan, who won by forfeit at 174 pounds, and Frank Heffernan, who was a winner by injury default at 157, each picked up six team points for the Colonels as well. Colin Nagy (197) scored a win by major decision, while Barowski (165), Josh Pauling (133) and Peter George (141) scored victories by decision. 
           
The Colonels notched a 31-12 win over M.I.T. in their third match of the day. Pauling (133) was a winner by fall and both Clark (141) and D.J. Giancola (174) were awarded forfeit victories. Andrew Franko (157) and Andrew Rock (165) picked up wins by technical fall to help the Wilkes cause, while Adam Penberthy (149) scored a win by decision. 
             
Wilkes ended the day with a 44-9 win over Johns Hopkins University. Pauling (133), Smith (149) and Ballan (174) registered wins by fall, while Farnham (125), Clark (141) and Olsen (197) each gained a win by forfeit. Barowski (165) was a winner by technical fall and Heffernan earned a win by decision to round out the Colonels winners.
