(4/29) Freedom Conference Championship (Day Two)
The Wilkes University golf team finished in fifth place at the Freedom Conference Championship at Shawnee-on-the-Delaware Golf Club on Sunday.
The Colonels, who entered the day in sixth position, finished the two-day event with a team score of 995. Their score of 488 on Sunday was 19 strokes better than the 507 that they posted on Saturday. FDU-Florham claimed the team title with a score of 949. The University of Scranton, who held a one-stroke leading heading into the final day of play, finished second with a score of 958.
FDU-Florham’s Greg Stokely claimed the individual title after posting a score of 219 during the 54-hole event. Scranton’s Jeff Slivinski was the runner-up after finishing with a 227. Delaware Valley’s Nick Van Hook and Joe Scioscia tied for third with scores of 231.
Wilkes was led by Jamie Montville. Montville earned second team All-Conference honors after shooting identical scores of 118 on both days to finish at 236.
Carmen Winters was next for the Colonels with a score of 250 to finish in 19th place, one spot ahead of teammate Adam Bachman who carded a score of 251. Matt Nagar finished with a 258 for Wilkes, while Matt Wagner ended the event with a score of 267.

The Wilkes University golf team sits in sixth-place after the opening 27 holes of the 54-hole Freedom Conference Championship being held at Shawnee-on-the-Delaware Golf Club.
The Colonels finished the day with a team score of 507. Scranton holds the lead after the opening day with a team score of 473. FDU-Florham is just one stroke behind at 474, while King’s is third with a 492.
FDU-Florham’s Greg Stokely holds the individual lead heading in Sunday’s action. Stokely finished the 27 holes with a score of 111. Wilkes’ Jamie Montville is just seven strokes back in seventh-place after carding a score of 118.
The tournament will conclude tomorrow with each team playing another 27 holes at Shawnee.
