The home was renovated in 2002, but many original features -- like fireplaces -- were kept intact. A large dining room and a marble-floored sunroom are some of the home's most distinctive attributes.

According to a May 22, 2004, Times Leader feature, President Gilmour says, "It's a good house...It works in a variety of ways."

you might have taken a class or two in this building. Wilkes College purchased the home from Mrs. Sterling and used it as an academic and administrative building until it was refurbished for President and Mrs. Michelini in 1970.

The Georgian-style structure was designed in 1925, by Edmund B. Gilchrist of Philadelphia, as a residence for Paul Sterling, son of Walter G. Sterling who lived in the building we now know as Sterling Hall.

The basic original structure of this Classical Revival style house remains intact, although floors had to be relaid due to flood damage.
