The student development office enhances student life by...
offering leadership programs, experiential education opportunities, and a variety of extracurricular and social activities which provide meaningful out of the classroom experiences for students. A few of the programs offered include Cooperative Education & Internships, Community Service,the Cultural Series, Experiential Adventure Series, Tour Series and Weekend Entertainment Series.
Cooperative Education & Internships
Cooperative education is a process that formally integrates a student's academic studies with productive work experiences in professional settings. Internships & Coops provide students an opportunity to see the relationships between course work and actual jobs, meet potential employers, gain employment references, establish relationships with mentors, gain entry into companies that interest them and earn gain academic course credit.
Community Service
Wilkes offers students the chance to serve in all kinds of ways from providing meals to the homeless and donating blood to fundraising for area charities. Every year, too, Wilkes offers an Alternative Spring Break Service Trip that enables students to gain field experience while helping others.

The Mission of the program is to provide first year students with a convenint outlet for advice that will aid in the transition to college and provide an extraordinary support environment for academic achievement and personal growth. Our Weekend Entertainment Series, which offers a variety...
of entertainment options to choose from each weekend. A few of the weekly attractions include indoor rock climbing, ice-skating, skiing, bowling, shuttles to the Wyoming Valley Mall and horseback riding.
Student Development also oversees a new gameroom, which offers a comfortable, fun place to spend time and relax. The gameroom equipment includes: two pool tables, a foosball table, an electronic dartboard, an air hockey table and a big screen TV & X-Box.
