Can You Help the Red Cross on Monday?
Question: What are you doing Monday?
Answer: You could be saving lives!
This Monday, January 16, 2017 is the MLK Day of Service and the Red Cross Home Fire Campaign is at it again! This time saving lives in Scranton, Wilkes-Barre and Dunmore. But we need your help.
The attached flyer has all of the information, including times and places we will be meeting. Essentially we will be going door-to-door sharing fire safety tips and asking if there are working smoke alarms in the home. If not, we offer to install FREE smoke alarms right there on the spot. We have canvassed the neighborhoods and are working with local fire and police departments as well as other key community groups so people know we are coming, which always helps to open doors. For these one-day events, you do NOT need to be a current Red Cross volunteer. All are welcome to help – businesses, civic organizations, students, faith-based groups, families and individuals including youth volunteers (16+ or 13+ with an adult). Feel free to spread the news. No prior experience is needed. Everything is provided – equipment, supplies, training, even breakfast and lunch!! We are looking for help on our field teams who travel with experienced Red Cross volunteers and there are a few indoor positions too (registration, feeding, data entry, etc.).
RSVPs are encouraged, so we can prepare, and walk-ins are always welcome. Shout out if you have any questions. We hope to see you there.
Together, we’ll save lives! Thank you.
