Steve Forbes Delivers Kirby Lecture March 1

Steve Forbes will deliver the Allan P. Kirby Lecture in Free Enterprise and Entrepreneurship on Wednesday, March 1 at 7 p.m. at the Dorothy Dickson Darte Center. The lecture, “An Evening of Insights with Steve Forbes,” is co-sponsored by the Young America’s Foundation. The lecture will be followed by a book signing and Forbes’ books will be available for purchase. The event is free and open to the public.

Forbes is chairman and editor-in-chief of Forbes Media. The company’s flagship publication, Forbes, is the nation’s leading business magazine with a circulation of 900,000. In total, the company’s publications reach more than five million readers worldwide. Forbes.com has become one of the world’s most influential websites with more than 60 million unique visitors a month.

He writes editorials for Forbes under the heading of “Fact and Comment.” A widely respected economic prognosticator, Forbes has received the prestigious Crystal Owl Award four times for the accuracy of his economic forecasts.

His most recent book, Reviving America: How Repealing Obamacare, Replacing the Tax Code and Reforming the Fed Will Restore Hope and Prosperity, co-authored by Elizabeth Ames, was released by McGraw-Hill Professional in December 2015.

Forbes campaigned for the Republican nomination for the presidency in 1996 and 2000. His platform focused on a flat tax, medical savings accounts, a new Social Security system for working Americans, school choice, term limits and a strong national defense. He continues to vigorously support this agenda.

President Reagan named Forbes chairman of the bi-partisan Board for International Broadcasting (BIB) in 1985. As chairman, he oversaw the operations of Radio Free Europe and Radio Liberty. Forbes was reappointed to the post by President George H.W. Bush and held the position until 1993.

Forbes serves on the boards of The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation, the Heritage Foundation and The Foundation for the Defense of Democracies. He is on the Board of Overseers of the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and on the Board of Visitors for the School of Public Policy of Pepperdine University. He was a member of the Board of Trustees of Princeton University for 10 years.

The Allan P. Kirby Center Lecture Series brings leading voices in free enterprise and entrepreneurship to the Wilkes University campus and Northeastern Pennsylvania. The Center hosts two annual lectures. Open to students and the community, these forums give insight into the creative process and drive of the entrepreneur.
