Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Ban

Due to recent safety concerns around the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 cell phones, Wilkes University is banning the device from all campus buildings and vehicles, effective immediately.
On September 15, 2016, Samsung Electronics announced a safety recall and exchange program for the Note 7 (http://www.samsung.com/us/note7recall/).  According to Samsung: “Since the affected devices can overheat and pose a safety risk, if you own a Galaxy Note7, it is extremely important to stop using your device, power it down and immediately exchange it using our U.S. Note7 Exchange Program.”   Device owners are expected to comply with this campus-wide ban.
The University may reconsider this ban if the danger of fire is eliminated in the future.
