REMINDER: Sign Up for Wilkes Alerts!
Wilkes University students, staff, and faculty members are reminded to register their cell phones with the Wilkes Alert Emergency Notification System. Text messages and email alerts are issued by the Department of Public Safety to notify the campus community of a campus emergency or unplanned closure.
To register, make sure your cell phone is with you and is turned on, then complete the registration form. (Selecting the optional MESA site will provide you will additional messages specific to that location.) When you click SUBMIT, a text message will be sent to your cell phone with a validation code. Enter the validation code in the space provided to validate your cell phone number. Please note that depending on your wireless service agreement, a nominal charge may be incurred for receiving text messages.
Additionally, you can now sign up to receive notifications on your cellphones or other electronic devices about emergency or weather-related events in Luzerne County. Those who register can opt to receive text messages, emails and/or phone call messages. The blue Swift911 Public app can be downloaded at Google Play or the Apple App Store. (The red Swift911 Mobile app is for officials who send alerts.) The system also will interface with the Luzerne County EMA Facebook page at www.facebook.com/LuzerneCountyEMA.
