United Way Campaign Update

Dear friends and colleagues,

As we near the end of our United Way campaign, we wanted to give you one last update before you enjoy some time to relax over the Thanksgiving holiday break.

As of now, we have raised just short of $16,000 through the pledges that have been made and the money raised through our Department Trick-or-Treating, the Sweet Lush Cupcake Camper, the annual Taste of Wilkes event, and the 5k held last weekend.  We greatly appreciate everybody's support thus far, but we are still short of our goal.  Every pledge makes a difference, no matter the amount.

Those who donate will be entered in raffles being held by both the United Way of Wyoming Valley and Wilkes.  Prizes offered in the United Way’s raffle include a 2-year car lease from MotorWorld; a trip to Puerto Rico; tickets to a Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins game; gift cards from McCarthy Tire Service, The Bon Ton, and Target; a two-minute shopping spree at Wegmans; and products from Proctor & Gamble, Mondelez International, and Metro Shelving. In addition to the raffle from the United Way, Wilkes will be raffling off a $75 gift card to Barnes & Noble, a $50 gift card to Wegmans, and two gift certificates to Movies 14.

**All donations pledged before Friday, December 2 are included in the drawings for both the United Way and Wilkes raffles.**

So if you have not yet done so, please consider logging on and make a pledge of donation to the United Way of Wyoming Valley.  Your login information can be found in an email sent from usac@wilkes.edu.  The United Way’s primary goal is to fight child poverty, but a portion of your contributions also goes toward the University-hosted SHINE program, which is aimed at addressing the needs of at-risk students and their families by providing home-based visitation services and year round after-school programs for children pre-K through grade 12.  To see more about the SHINE program and others supported by the United Way, go to https://www.youtube.com/watch? v=P7_LzQC8TRY.

Sincerely,

The University Staff Advisory Committee
