Dr. Philip Simon
Dr. Philip Simon, Associate Professor of Music and Director of Bands was recently appointed to the Executive Board of Local 140 of the American Federation of Musicians. Dr. Simon’s swearing in ceremony recently took place at the Local 140 business meeting.
Dr. Vijay K. Arora
Professor Dr. Vijay K. Arora, Electrical Engineering and Physics, published a book chapter entitled “Carbon: The Soul of Future Nanoelectronics,” as a keynote invited paper in the category of Nanotechnology and Nanomaterials. Nanotechnology is one of the three initiatives funded by the State of Pennsylvania in RACP -Engineering Grant of 3 million dollars. The other two initiatives are Bioengineering and 3D Advanced Manufacturing which have great overlap with the area of nanotechnology. The title of the book is Recent Trends in Materials and Devices edited by Vinod Kumar Jain , Sunita Rattan, and Abhishek Verma, professors at Amity University Delhi, India. Springer, the renowned book publisher, is devoted to timely reports of state-of-the-art developments in physics and related sciences. Amity University has honored Professor Arora with Honorary Professorship. Amity is a reputed group of academic institutions with campuses in India and Overseas. By conferring this honor, Amity hopes to foster bonds of friendship with Wilkes University as a gesture to strike a unique alliance to advance the state of education and research. India is now admitted into Washington Accord. Eighteen signatories, including the ABET of the United States, have full rights of participation in the Accord; qualifications accredited or recognized by other signatories are recognized by each signatory as being substantially equivalent to accredited or recognized qualifications within its own jurisdiction. Professor Arora continues to be a Distinguished Lecture of IEEE-EDS and will be a keynote speaker at the International Conference on Recent Innovations In Engineering And Technology (ICRIEAT-2016), December 22-23, 2016, in silicon valley of India Hyderabad with adjoining Cybrabad with high concentrations of IT companies.
