Additional Wilkes Emergency Management Seminars

Due to popular demand, the Department of Public Safety and Office of Risk and Compliance Management will be offering two additional session 1 training classes (Emergency Management 101) next week.  This session is designed to provide the groundwork and instill in the participants that emergency preparedness is more than just a response to any given event. 

The new dates and times are:   May 24, 2016 - 9:00AM-10:00AM - UCOM 231  AND  May 26, 2016 - 1:00PM-2:00PM - UCOM 231.

 About the Sessions

 Session 1:  Emergency Management 101 

 Description:  Designed to provide the groundwork and instill in the participants that emergency preparedness is more than just a response to any given event.  An overview of the campus emergency management, preparedness, and communications plans will be discussed and will set the structure for the way the university is organized during responses.

 Session 2:  Personal Safety/Protection Plans

 Description: Assist the participant in developing their personal safety/protection action plan in the event of a campus evacuation, lock down, or shelter in place incident.

 Session 3:  Tabletop Exercises

Description:  The conclusion of the WEMS training.  Participants will be provided the opportunity to practice and test response strategies and procedures reviewed in previous sessions.    Multiple, mini Tabletop Exercise scenarios will be presented and participants expected to engage in discussion of how they would respond during crisis situations:

 ●  Active Shooter                            ●  Flooding                          ●  Fire                                    ●  Medical and/or Public Health
