Dr. Phil Simon will serve as the guest clinician/conductor at the Mansfield University Wind Conducting Workshop on Feb. 12 and 13.  He will observe and make comments for conductors as they conduct a piece with the Mansfield Wind Ensemble. As part of the workshop, he will guest conduct Give Us This Day, A two movement Symphony by David Maslanka, in concert with the Mansfield Wind Ensemble on March 13.  

Dr. Simon has also been invited to do a clinic/rehearsal with the North Schuylkill High School Band on Feb. 24.  

On Thursday, Feb. 25, he will give a lecture at the Sordoni Gallery on the relationship between the photographs in the current show and the photo subject’s status as icons of American Popular Music.

On March 31, he will conduct the Civic Band in a special invitation performance at the PA Music Educators Association Spring Conference in Hershey, PA. The guest composer/conductors for this performance include Bruce Yurko, Wilkes Alumnus, Class of 71’, and Eugene Magalif who has composed a new piece for the ensemble, Dances Of The Royal Court, which the band will premier at the Conference.  This will be the seventh world premier performance given by Dr. Simon and the Civic Band in the last 10 years.
