Poverty Simulation Volunteers Needed

Volunteers needed for Poverty Simulation hosted by the United Way of the Wyoming Valley. Faculty and service-learning classes are highly encouraged to participate.

Miriam Bakewell, Community Impact Manager for the United Way Wyoming Valley, is looking to recruit volunteers for an upcoming Poverty Simulation that will take place at the Catholic Youth Center (CYC) on Thursday April 14.  The event runs from 8 am to noon with a lunch to follow.   Volunteers are needed to come to the simulation and “act” out a role as service providers as our participants walk in the shoes of those in poverty and have to maneuver through the “red tape” that often entangles our most vulnerable community members.  Volunteers are asked to arrive at 8 am for a brief training session prior to the start of the simulation. Faculty and students are highly encouraged to participate.

Please feel free to contact Ms. Bakewell directly with any questions at  (570) 270-9108.
