United Nations Lecture - Tuesday, April 5, 2016 (On Behalf of Andrew Miller)
Please join us Tuesday, April 5 at 4:00 PM in the Miller Room of the Henry Student Union Building for the final HDI-United Nations lecture of the academic year “United Nations Peacekeeping Operations around the World” delivered by Mr. Thomas Ritzer, Protection of Civilians Coordination Officer, United Nations Departments of Peacekeeping Operations and Field Support.

Mr. Thomas Ritzer
Thomas Ritzer is a Protection of Civilians Coordination Officer in the Policy, Evaluation and Training Division of the UN Departments of Peacekeeping Operations and Field Support. In this role, Thomas develops policy and strategic guidance for peace operations, collects best practices, produces training materials for uniformed and civilian personnel in peace operations, and provides operational support to field missions implementing a protection of civilians mandate. Prior to this post, Thomas worked on Somalia in the UN Department of Political Affairs, and also spent a year in South Sudan with the peacekeeping mission UNMISS. Before joining the UN, Thomas gathered diverse experience in the public and private sectors, including work with NGOs, the Foreign Ministry of Austria, and Thomson Reuters. Thomas obtained a Masters Degree in International Affairs from Columbia University and also possesses a business degree from the Vienna University of Economics and Business.
