Dear Wilkes University Students,
 
Are you looking for a paid educational experience that will make a difference?   The Luzerne County SHINE After-School Program will expose you to the most innovative strategies in education, STEAM (Science, Technology, Education, Arts and Mathematics) and the skills needed to be more competitive in the current job market.
 
The Luzerne County SHINE program provides academic enrichment for students from kindergarten through senior high school.
The college teacher assistant position is 12 hours a week, $8.00 per hour and operates Monday through Thursday, 3:15 p.m. – 6:15 p.m. beginning at the end of October, 2015.  SHINE teacher assistants will also have opportunities for monthly professional development on STEAM, emerging technology and a connection to local business/industry. Teacher Assistants are responsible for their own transportation and for all mandated clearances.
 
The elementary after- school centers will be located at the Heights Murray Elementary School in Wilkes-Barre, the Nanticoke Elementary Center in Nanticoke, State Street in Larksville and Maple Manor in Hazleton. Middle School STEM Career Academies will take place at the Wilkes-Barre Career and Technical School (CTC), West Side Career CTC and the Hazleton CTC.
