James Jones Literary Society’s Symposium on the Wilkes Campus November 5-7

During the weekend of November 5 - 7, the Wilkes Creative Writing Graduate Program will host the 2015 James Jones Literary Society’s Symposium on the Wilkes campus. All students, faculty, and staff are invited to attend the following two events:
Friday, November 6 – 4:30 p.m. – Breiseth 106
Keynote presented by Chris Walsh, author of Cowardice: A Brief History, which includes a discussion about his latest book that includes James Jones on war.  His reading will be followed by a book signing and reception, featuring Dr. Walsh and six winners of the James Jones First Novel Fellowship.  This event is co-sponsored by the Wilkes/Kings Barnes & Noble.
Saturday, November 7 – 9:00 a.m. – Kirby 108 
Fiction workshop with Wilkes Creative Writing alums Barbara Taylor and Taylor Polites. Taylor is author of Sing in the Morning, Cry at Night (selected as Top 10 Best Summer Read by Publisher’s Weekly). Polities is author of The Rebel Wife (selected as a Top Ten Pick for February 2012 by O, The Oprah Magazine).  Taylor and Polites were the 2015 judges for the $10,000 James Jones First Novel Fellowship.
